Homegrown Holiday Gift Guide: Part IV
A Local Holiday Feast
One of my favorite things about living local is the food. Treat someone special on your list to a local dinner or some homegrown treats. Here are a few ideas (feel free to leave your own suggestions below).
- Drinks: Otto’s or Elk Creek brew, local wine, Tait Farm Shrub with sparkling water
- Appetizer: Salmon spread from a local farmer’s market served with crackers; cream cheese with Tait Farm Chutney spread on crackers, served with local apples
- Main Dish: Pasta from Fasta Ravioli & Co. with grilled local sausage or chicken, served with salad greens from the farmers market mixed with local apples and pears and Gemelli bread (129 South Pugh Street and Boalsburg Farmers Market)
- Dessert: treats from Chocolate Madness (134 West College Avenue), red velvet cupcakes from Gemelli, or Meyer Dairy ice cream
So take a trip to your local indoor farmer’s market, where you’ll also findĀ soap, felted wool ornaments and enough baked goods to keep Santa happy all year long. Where else will you see a stuffed hen wearing reindeer antlers?
